The club will be hosting a freestyle clinic on Saturday, April 30 after the Skyhoundz Local. Events are both taking place at the Salem Community Park (89 Norwich RD, Salem, CT).

The approximate start time for the clinic is 1:00pm.

Due to limited number of spaces, pre-registration is recommended for this event.

Our very own Ed Jakubowski (co-founder of YFDDC) and Carrie Neri (founding member and treasurer) will be conducting this clinic.  

Ed Jakubowski

Ed has 39 years of experience in the disc dog sport and has qualified for world championship appearances in five consecutive decades. Ed was inducted into the Ashley Whippet Hall of Fame in 2001 and received the Lifetime Achievement award from Skyhoundz in 2006. His two Skyhoundz World Records set in Distance/Accuracy in 2004 stood for six years and eleven years respectively.

Ed is a Master Certified Judge. He has judged at all levels of competition for UFO, IDDHA, USDDN, AWI, Skyhoundz and FDDO. He wrote and administered the first judge's certification test in 2001. During the Irv Lander era (1974-2000), Ed was the first person to qualify and compete with 3 different dogs in the World Finals.  

Ed and his dogs have appeared on Animal Planet and done shows for the Animal Planet Expo. They competed in the 2005 ESPN Great Outdoor Games and have participated in the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge. They have also been featured in Self Magazine and on television in a commercial for Zappos.com and a live production for ABC's Good Morning America.

Ed competes with several of his canine partners and qualified two dogs for the 2015 World Finals. Ed currently delights spectators with his disc dog shows for his company DiscDogs A2Z.

Carrie Neri

Carrie has been involved in the sport of canine musical freestyle for 18 years.  Carrie performs with 6 year old Australian shepherd Lyric, 10 year old Papillon Ortiz and 2 yr old mini Aussie Rhythm.  Although they compete in Freestyle competitions, most of their performances are for entertainment at fundraisers, rescue events, schools and occasional parties and black tie affairs.

Carrie and her dogs have also performed for a few TV stories about musical freestyle including appearances on Animal Planet, Nick@Nite Roadcrew Show, PBS, Rachael Ray, Mike and Juliet Live and The Daily Show on Comedy Central.  They have been featured in books, newspapers and magazines.

Carrie and her dogs have also competed in flyball and toss and fetch and freestyle.
